A demolition of track records in OSS action

Grove City, OH – Despite two days of rain, the track at Hollywood Dayton Raceway was fast and produced five harness racing track records as freshman pacers and trotters wrapped up the final leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes. Eight divisions carried a purse of $65,000.

Stablemates swept both divisions for filly pacers and colt pacers setting track records in each race.

Odds On Hialeah (Lather Up) and Odds On Chesapeake (Downbytheseaside) were the filly pace winners, while Rick Wink (Bit Of A Legend N) and Sippinonsearoc (Downbytheseaside) won in the colt pace.

In the first division for filly pacers, Odds On Hialeah won her fourth leg in Sires Stakes action going wire-to-wire to win in a track record 1:52.1.  Dexter Dunn took the filly to the front and cruised to a five-length victory.  It was the sixth win in seven starts for Odds On Hialeah who raised her earnings to $174,750.

Prolific Fire (Austin Hanners) was second with Gorgeous Package (Anthony MacDonald) third.

ODDS ON HIALEAH REPLAY

Odds On Hialeah’s track record did not stand for long.  In the second division, Odds On Chesapeake rallied down the stretch to win by a neck, lowering the track record to 1:51.4.  The filly sat third through the first half before making her move up the backstretch.  Around the final turn, Dunn moved Odds On Chesapeake wide, reeled in Skywalker Sea, and then held off a hard-charging The Word Is Out.

It was the fourth win in eight starts for Odds On Chesapeake.  She has earned $82,700 this year.

The Word Is Out (Chris Page) held on for second with Odds On Collateral (Peter Wrenn) third.

ODDS ON CHESAPEAKE REPLAY

Both horses are trained by Virgil Morgan Jr.  Odds On Hialeah is owned by Let It Ride Stables and Odds On Racing, while Odds On Racing owns Odds on Chesapeake.

In the first division of freshman colt pacers, Rick Wink stayed perfect on the year winning for the eighth time as he set a new track record for two-year-old pacing colts.

Off the gate, Page took the colt to the lead, but Extra Suds with Miller took over with a :27.1 opening quarter.  Rick Wink retook the lead and never looked back cruising to a three-length victory in 1:52

Extra Suds finished second with Downbythewater (Chris Lems) third.

RICK WINK REPLAY

Rick Wink has earned $239,750 this year and can capture the Ohio Triple Crown with a win on Super Night on October 12 at MGM Northfield Park.

Rick Wink’s track record lasted longer than Odds On Hialeah’s record.  It was 12 races before Sippinonsearoc broke his stablemate’s record.

Starting from the far outside ninth post position, Sippinonsearoc with Page fired off the gate and grabbed the lead which he never relinquished on the way to a three-length win in 1:51.2, lowering the track record.

Lather Up Athens (Hank LeVan) was second with Ridin The Waves (Lems) was third.

SIPPINONSEAROC REPLAY

It is the fifth win in eight starts for the gelding, who raised his earnings to $258,500.

Rick Wink and Sippinonsearoc are trained by Ron Burke.  Burke Racing Stable, RAS Racing, Knox Services, and J&T Silva – Purnell & Libby own Rick Wink, while Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, RAS Racing, and Knox Services own Sippinonsearoc.

On the trotting side, one track record was set as LT Loverboy (Long Tom) dominated the first division of colt trotters winning in 1:56.2.

Directly out of the gate, Brett Miller urged 3-5 favorite Lt Loverboy to the front and never looked back. The gelding easily coasted to fractions in 28.3, :57.4, and 1:26.4, winning by six lengths.

Scrappys Love (Mike Wilder) was second with Battle Hill (Lems) in third.

LT LOVERBOY REPLAY

Lt Loverboy has won five of nine this season. Four of those victories were scored in the OSS. With $154,855 in the bank, Lt Loverboy has hit the board in each lifetime start under Daren Harvey’s conditioning. He is owned by Wayne Mast Jr. and Callam Racing.

Owners Wayne Mast Jr. and Callam Racing scored again as Oso Fast (Coraggioso) went wire-to-wire in the second division. Despite leaving from the eighth post position, Oso Fast demanded control of the field. Guided by David Miller, the gelding posted fractions in :28.2, :58.4, and 1:28 before tripping the wire in 1:58.3.

In a blanket finish, Stud Muffin T (Trevor Smith) was second while Hilltop Sonar (Page) was third.

OSO FAST REPLAY

Oso Fast has won two legs of the Ohio Sires Stakes. The victory upped his earnings to $92,225. Scott Cox trains Oso Fast.

Mocha Hill (What The Hill) and Page took the first division of filly trotters in 1:57.2. Mocha Hill showed no hesitation when leaving from the sixth post position. The filly cleared the front while coming out of the first turn. With no challengers, Mocha Hill set fractions in :28.4, :58.4, and 1:28.1 before stopping the clock with lengths to spare.

Aunt Laura (Miller) finished second with Mia Sangria (Dan Noble) third.

MOCHA HILL REPLAY

The victory marked the fourth OSS win for Mocha Hill. The Ron Burke trainee has hit the board in seven of eight starts, earning $184,742 for owners Burke Racing Stable, Hatfield Stables, Weaver Bruscemi, and Knox Services.

In the second filly division, Dream Something (Uncle Peter) scored in 1:58.2. Tyler Smith gave the filly the perfect pocket trip behind favorite Rose Run Allison (Page). Dream Something stayed patient as fractions came in :28.2, :57.4, and 1:27.4. Dream Something snuck into the passing lane and dug deep to win in her final strides.

Rose Run Allision held on for second while Brink Street (Yannick Gingras) finished third.

DREAM SOMETHING REPLAY

With three Sires Stakes victories under her belt, Dream Something has earned $150,383 this season. Miles Wollam trains and co-owns Dream Something alongside Julie Ann Sweet and Dale Sweet.

The Ohio Sires Stakes Scarlet and Gray Championships are scheduled for October 12 at MGM Northfield Park.
