Skowhega , Maine …. Harness racing driver Aaron Hall carried full momentum into Thursday (August 15) night’s card at the Skowhegan State Fair as the Pine Tree circuit regular reinsman continued to build his reputation as a force to be reckoned with at Maine’s fairground ovals.
Hall sparkled under the bright lights of Skowhegan on Thursday, teaming three winners down Victory Lane, while in the process, hoisting his flag atop the driver’s leaderboard by virtue of his ten top tallies earned during the first five days of the weeklong Skowhegan meet.
Hall’s selection of Thursday winners included; Your Momma (1:58.1-$4.20), who played a lively game of catch-me-if-you-can before posting her first win in three starts since joining the Brian Lamb stable; Knight Angel (2:01-$4.80), who expertly employed the “Skowhegan Sliingsbot” off the final turn to become the first of two winners from Hall’s own stable; and Thinking Of Slim (1:59-$2.60), who overcame a third-over journey to post the slight margin in a rare race where the entire outer-flow finished top-four placed.
With two days left in the Skowhegan meet Hall sits one win ahead of Kevin Switzer, Jr in the standings and two wins atop Walter Case, Jr as he bids to add the Skowhegan driving championship to the title he earned during his breakout season of 2021.
The Skowhegan State Fair meet will conclude with afternoon programs on Friday and Saturday (August 16-17) with a 1:00 p.m. post time each day. Saturday’s card will feature the annual renewal of the $15,000 Walter Hight Memorial Invitational Pace.
Skowhegan’s simulcast will be available for viewing and wagering on most national ADWs and brick and mortar locations through an agreement with Great Pine Racing.
