A racing accident in the ninth race at Scioto Downs sent three harness racing drivers to the hospital and cancelled racing for the remainder of the card Tuesday (Aug. 7) evening.As the field of ten pacers reach the top of the stretch in the ninth race, Just Kidding Katie, driven by Chris Page, was in fourth place on the outside when the horse fell to the track unseating Page.
Manholmes, driven by Jeremy Smith could not avoid the spill and ran over Just Kidding Katie, causing them to fall to the track and then Admiral Adam and driver Luke Hanners fell over the horses and drivers that were down, vaulting Hanners onto the track.
All three horses were able to walk off the track, but all three drivers were taken to the hospital.
Page is reported to have broken ribs, Smith facial injuries and a concussion and Hanners a broken wrist.
The remainder of the seven races on the program at Scioto Downs was cancelled.
