A harness racing accident occurred during the third race pace at Saratoga Raceway Saturday (Aug. 10) resulting in it being declared a no contest. Three drivers involved went to the hospital as per protocol at the track and all three horses were walked back to the race paddock.
The accident happened right after half mile marker when Dark Matter broke stride first-over and then fell to the track. Driver Billy Dobson was unseated from his sulky and that caused a chain reaction with the remaining horses in the race.
Following second-over was Quagmire Bluechip and driver Mitchell Cushing, who was unseated, then banged into Coalford Bet Aline, who also fell to the track and unseated driver Matty Athearn.
Harnesslink hopes all of the drivers and horses involved in the accident will be OK.
