A multiple-horse accident in the eighth race on Friday night (November 17) at MGM Yonkers Raceway led to a no contest being declared. Horses and drivers involved were Oaxacan Dream N and Jim Marohn Jr., Two Proud and Matt Kakaley, Man Dontforget Me and Bob Di Nozzi and Silent Crossing and Tyler Buter.

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! Joe Faraldo of the SOA of NY reports Friday morning that Jim Marohn, Jr. has broken forearms and thumb – surgery to repair broken bones maybe done today. Tyler Buter broken ribs and collar bone, some back pain unknown at this time ; Bob Di Nozzi broken ribs. Matt Kakaley was very lucky to have escaped any serious injury. All of the horses walked off the track.

As the field raced into the first turn, Oaxacan Dream N and driver Jim Marohn, Jr. were just getting to the lead when Oaxacan Dream N apparently tripped and fell to the track and the trailing horses piled into the downed horse.

Due to the accident, the final race on the program was also canceled. MGM Yonkers Raceway will send out further updates when and if available on the conditions of horses and drivers in the spill.

Racing is scheduled to resume at MGM Yonkers Raceway on Monday (November 20). Yonkers will also have a card on Tuesday (November 21) before the track goes dark the remainder of the week for Thanksgiving.

WARNING! WARNING! Do not watch if you are squeamish about horse racing accidents
