MONTICELLO, N.Y.— Andrew Adamczyk pushed through a first-over grind and withstood late pursuers to claim victory in the $7,500 North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (May 14).

Leaving from post 3, Adamczyk settled into fourth with Fanatic while pylon-starter Mufasa As (driven by Joe Faraldo) protected the cones and fired for the front to a :28.4 first quarter. Faraldo slowed the tempo to a :59 half, prompting Adamczyk to angle outside and make a move after the leader heading for the backside. Fanatic drew to equal terms with Mufasa As marching to three-quarters in 1:28.4 and then grabbed the lead through the final turn. Adamczyk kept his charge alive to the line to win by a neck in a 1:57.4 mile while holding off Cal Miles N Shell (John Calabrese), who rallied from second over for second. Woodside Genius (Joe Lee) emerged from a shuffle for third while Mufasa As held fourth.
