Lifetime mark set in Plainridge feature

Plainville, MA — Adashious Hanover made her second start in the top harness racing class for pacing mares at Plainridge Park the best of her career after winning the $25,000 Winners-Over distaff pace on Tuesday afternoon (May 10).

Adashious Hanover (Drew Monti) grabbed a quick lead at the start of the race and then battled Chasethecloudsaway (Luke Hanners) to the quarter in :26.4 before letting that one take the top. Chasethecloudsaway then marched to the half in a more tempered :56.2 before Turnthefrownaround (Bruce Ranger) pulled from fourth to push the issue further.

Turnthefrownaround and Chasethecloudsaway went hoof to hoof up the backstretch while Adashious Hanover sat chilly in the pocket. After hitting three-quarters in 1:24.1 the top two mares continued to battle as the field tightened up at the head of the stretch. Heading for home the leaders were less than a length apart when Betterb Chevron N (Matty Athearn) came into contention, flying four wide from last and just a length away.

But it was the ground saving Adashious Hanover who found room at the pylons and the quickest route to the line where she won by a head in 1:52.3, which was a new lifetime mark.

It was the third win of the year for Adashious Hanover ($19.60) and it pushed her 2022 earnings to $46,285 for owners Marc Reynolds and Rick Cortese. Jimmy Nickerson trains the winner.

There were also two $15,000 condition races that highlighted the card on Tuesday.

In the first, De Chirico (Drew Campbell) turned a first over move past the half into a one length victory after chasing down the frontrunning Moneyorroses (Kevin Switzer Jr.) in the stretch to win by a length in a lifetime best 1:53.

De Chirico ($7.00) is owned by Michelle Lefebvre and is trained by Chris Lefebvre.

Campbell also won the second clash with Siri Blue Chip who led every step of the mile and held off JBs Star Dancer (Bruce Ranger), Shortys Girl (Kevin Switzer Jr.) and CBF Star Power (Jay Randall) at the line to win by a length in 1:54.2.

Siri Blue Chip ($6.20) is owned by Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi and Scott Dillon and is trained by Joe Nelson.

The Grand Circuit returns to Plainridge Park for the second of three dates on Monday (May 16) with the inaugural edition of the $100,000 Battle of Bunker Hill trot for 3-year-old trotters. There are 17 eligible sophomore trotters, and the field will be drawn on Thursday (May 12).
