STRONG FIELD OF 9 ENTER ADIOO VOLO
The Quinton Patterson Adioo Volo, the sister race to the Delvin Miller Adios, will lead the undercard on Saturday as Race #10 at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.Ā A power-packed field of nine harness racing fillies will square off, and the numbers are impressive:Ā Seven of the nine entrants have lifetime marks under 1:51, including three with sub-1:50 records.Ā Three have earned over a quarter million dollars each.Ā Collectively, the group has 58 wins in 167 starts, a 34.7% win percentage.Ā And in those 167 starts, the group has, combined, finished in the top-3 on 118 occasions, or 70.6% of the time.
ADIOO VOLO WASā¦
The dam of Adios.Ā Delvin Miller created The Adios to honor Adios, the stallion whose success Miller parlayed into building The Meadows in the early 1960s.Ā When Miller wanted to create a companion race for fillies, he turned to Adioo Volo as the right name for the event.Ā The race also honors the memory of Quinton Patterson, a longtime Meadows behind-the-scenes employee who stepped in front of the cameras once a year during his Meadows tenure, to place the blanket onto the Adios winner in the winnerās circle each summer.
SECOND-TIER STARTERS
Two races on the Saturday card, Races 12 (Arden Downs 3YO Colt Trot) and 14 (Arden Downs 2YO Filly Pace) have drawn 10 entries.Ā The Meadows reminds horseplayers that the starting gate at the track is nine horses wide, so #10 will start as a trailer in the second tier.Ā Even if there is an early or late scratch, the 10 will remain a trailer.
