The $9,500 Open Pace highlighted the Saturday (Oct. 14) night harness racing program at The Ville with Admiral Adam (Always A Virgin – Fox Valley Praline) and driver Charles Taylor snagging the lion’s share of the featured race’s purse.
Over the rain-soaked track, Coalfordbythesea and Justin Irvine left hard for the early lead and tripped the beam to the opening quarter in 27.2 as Gitterdonefortyone enjoyed a pocket ride. Admiral Adam got away fourth but was shuffled to last going to the half in 56.3, as Diesel Accelerator and Catch Me Conrad moved up on the outside.
As the field went to three-quarters in 1:25.2, Coalfordbythesea brought the field to the stretch, Admiral Adam slid off the rail to three wide as they turned for home as the outside flow faded and Executive Dash N slid up the super stretch. As they came to the finish line, Admiral Adam prevailed by two lengths in 1:55.3 over runner-up Executive Dash N and third place finisher Gitterdonefortyone.
Admiral Adam is owned by Lases Racing and trained by Paul Cloer, Jr. and the win was Admiral Adam’s 14th of his career.
ADMIRAL ADAM REPLAY
Driver Justin Irvine had a driving hat trick on the night and Marc St. Louis, Jr. had a double. Trainer Gerald Malady had a training hat trick on the night as well.
