FREEHOLD, N.J.— On a weekend where amateur driving clubs made many hefty donations to several charities, the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) also ponied a large sum for donation to the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame in Goshen, N.Y.

Anthony Verruso, President of the AHDC, led the check presentation following one of the club’s trotting series events at Freehold Raceway last Saturday (Nov. 11). The AHDC’s donation amounted to $5,000.

“The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame helps to preserve the memory of American harness racing, and so the AHDC is proud to support an organization that looks to keep racing’s history alive,” Anthony Verruso said.

Tom Charters, a member of the Living Hall of Fame and the former CEO for the Hambletonian Society, joined Verruso and Freehold’s director of racing Karen Fagliarone in the presentation.

The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame focuses on archiving harness racing’s long history in America to preserve traditions and help educate on the sport’s past. It opened in Goshen, N.Y. – home to Goshen Historic Track – and has been in operation for over 70 years.
