Monticello, NY—Harness racing driver Bruce Aldrich Jr visited the winners circle three times at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Mar. 6). He won with Americansongwriter (American Ideal) in the first race, Home’n Dry (Credit Winner) in race 5, and Chip Chip Conway (Conway Hall) in the $6,500 Open trot.
Hot Summer Knight (Gregory Merton) took the early lead, followed by Charlie Bar (Pierre Bovay). From the outside, Chip Chip Conway rushed to steal the lead before they reached the opening quarter mile in :29.1. From the outside, My Sweet Mi Mi (Kyle Dibenedetto) moved to challenge the leader. As they came to the half mile in 1:00.3, My Sweet Mi Mi and Chip Chip Conway were neck and neck for first, with Hot Summer Knight following in third.
Chip Chip Conway won the battle and led the way at the three-quarter mile in 1:29.3. My Sweet Mi Mi was racing in second and Hot Summer Knight followed in third. Chip Chip Conway didn’t give up his position and got the victory in 1:59.3. Hot Summer Knight came in second and Win And Dream (Fern Paquet Jr) got third.

Chip Chip Conway is an 8-year-old gelding trained by Gary Messenger and owned and bred by Gary Messenger and Kenneth Weckstein. He paid $3.30 to win.
Laura Aldrich got a training double.
