Hightstown, NJ — After spending three weeks outside the Top 10, Allywag Hanover (Captaintreacherous) returned to the upper echelon of the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, coming in at No. 10 in the Week 24 harness racing rankings released Tuesday. Last week, Allywag Hanover won the Potomac Pace at Rosecroft Raceway in 1:46.4, the fastest mile on a five-eighths track in history.
The only horse to make a move within the Top 10 was Matron Stakes 3-year-old colt pace winner Pebble Beach (Downbytheseaside), who went from sixth to fifth in a swap of places with Joviality S (Chapter Seven), who finished fifth in the Matron for 3-year-old female trotters.
Bulldog Hanover (Shadow Play) remained unanimous at No. 1, followed by Bella Bellini, Test Of Faith, and Jiggy Jog S.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
