The United States Harness Drivers Club (USHDC) is proud to announce a partnership with Oak Grove Racing that will see that track provide an amateur harness racing program during its upcoming 2023 meet, which runs from April 16 through July 2.

Amateur races will take place every Sunday.

The facility is in Oak Grove, Ky., near the Tennessee border, and is an hour northwest of Nashville, Tenn. Daily post time will be 3 p.m. (CDT).

Amateur races will be pacing events conducted under two conditions. Class 1 will reflect a $16,000 claiming price, while Class 2 will carry a $12,000 claiming tag. Both conditions will contain an also-eligible condition to be determined by the Oak Grove racing office.

USTA “A” and “P” drivers that fit the “10 Year Rule” will be eligible to compete. The 10 Year Rule stipulates that an amateur driver is one who has never accepted any valuable consideration by way of (or in lieu of) his/her services as a driver during the past 10 years. Drivers that have received driver compensation within that time frame may be allowed to pay those fees to an approved charitable organization to come into compliance with the rule. Drivers must be licensed by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and be members in good standing of the Kentucky Harness Association, U.S. Trotting Association, and United States Harness Drivers Club.

For further details, please contact Dein Spriggs, president of the USHDC, by phone (561.676.0745) or via email (Deinsprigg@aol.com).
