Amigo Volo returned to Dover Downs where he captured the Matron Stakes at age two and at age three. Now age four, he dominated a quality harness racing field and won the $25,000 Open Handicap trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night.
Warrior One launched off the starting gate and grabbed the early lead trotting to the quarter. Race favorite Amigo Volo left from post 6. Driver Vic Kirby settled into the 3rd with Amigo Volo and then took the lead away from Warrior One, who surrendered at the quarter. The opening split was reached in a torrid 27.3. The half was reached in a controlling 56.2 (28.4) by Amigo Volo.
Crystal Fashion was first to move past the half. Driver Montrell Teague was in high gear and in attack mode. Amigo Volo and Crystal Fashion met at the three quarters in 1:24.1 (27.4) and raced as a team. The battle continued midway into the lane.
However, Amigo Volo proved too powerful and won by 2 lengths, under wraps. The mile was trotted in 1:53.2 among mild, 50-degree temperatures, uncommon for December in Dover. He paid $3.for the win.
Amigo Volo (Father Patrick-Margarita Momma – Yankee Glide) is owned by Pinske Stables, MN and David J. Miller, FL. The victory was Amigo Volo’s 3rd consecutive win this season. He is trained by Nifty Norman.

Warrior One benefitted from a perfect journey and finished 2nd for trainer Ron Burke. Yannick Gingras drove. Crystal Fashion raced gallantly 1st up and finished 3rd for trainer Chuck Crissman Jr.
Tim Tetrick won 4 races on the 13-race betting card.
The Mares Open Handicap Pace (12th race) is the feature on Wednesday night.
A pair of full brothers, pacers, are set to compete against one another in the 11th race on Thursday, December 30 at Dover Downs.
Red Power (Telllitlikeitis-Power Of Presence-The Panderosa) and Power Of Tell will square off against one another in the same race.
The five-year-old Red Power is trained by Brian Malone and owned by Peter Paul Venturini and has finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 17 of 24 starts this year. His lifetime earnings are $116,585. He drew post 7.
His younger brother, four-year-old Power Of Tell is trained and co-owned by William (Buddy) Bright and Dawn Webb. Power of Tell has finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 15 of 35 starts this season. However, he has an edge in lifetime money earned with $137,257. He drew post 9 and scores from the second tier.
