CHESTER, PA – Ammo and Confederate, sons of Sweet Lou respectively first and second in the Breeders Crown Final for two-year-old harness racing pacing colts in 2022, finished in those same positions during a 1:51 Tuesday morning qualifier at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
Drawing just inside his main rival in post five, Ammo was sent to the front by driver David Miller and never looked back while posting fractions of :27, :56.3, and 1:22.4 (backstretch tailwind) en route to the swift clocking for trainer Joe Holloway and the ownership of Val D’Or Farms and Ted Gewertz.
Confederate stayed plugged in right behind and was 1¾ lengths back at the finish in his seasonal debut; Ammo had had a second behind Voufelakas in a 1:52.2 qualifier at The Meadowlands prior to this race.
Trainer Holloway showed another solid sophomore winner in Cantgetuoutamymind, a daughter of Always B Miki (whom Holloway trained at two and three), winning in 1:52.3 with a :54.4 back half. Also driven by Miller and owned by Roll The Dice Stable, Cantgetuoutamymind showed her potential with a 1:51.2 qualifying win at Lexington at two.
The Harrah’s qualifiers can be seen on the PHHA website. (Remember that drivers are not necessarily wearing their racing colors while driving in qualifiers.)
Philly will be racing four days this week with the addition of a live 12:40 card on Kentucky Derby Saturday. Program pages for all Philly cards are or will be available by clicking here.
