FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — After an unsuccessful harness racing foray into New York, Manklin Creek LLC and Michael Hall’s Ammo (Sweet Lou-Beach Gal) made his return to Maryland a winning one, rallying off third-over cover to reel in pacesetter Business Director for a 1:51.3 win in Monday’s (Dec. 2) $10,500 Open Handicap Pace at Rosecroft Raceway.
Jonathan Roberts angled 1-5 favorite Ammo into a third-over flow with nine-sixteenths to go and worked to within four lengths of a :56 half mile controlled by 9-2 second choice Business Director (driven by Russell Foster). As Business Director faced intensifying pressure from the first-over Lyons Stealth (Johnathan Ahle) to three-quarters in 1:23.1, Roberts pointed Ammo three-wide into the far turn, and the 4-year-old entire lifted steadily to collar Business Director in the final 40 yards and win going away by three-quarters of a length. Lyons Stealth finished third after being rebuffed off the home turn.
