Harness racing fans knew what they were doing when making Angel Nation (Archangel) the betting favorite in Wednesday’s Feb. 1 $30,000 Open-Handicap Trot at Miami Valley Raceway.
Leaving from post four, driver Trace Tetrick sent Angel Nation to the front, and they never had to look back, cutting fractions of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:25.2.
T Barrr (Kayne Kauffman) was sitting the two-hole trip and then Magical Muscle Man (Dan Noble) came first-over at the half with Combs Hanover (Chris Page) following the outside flow.
Angel Nation went on to win by one length in 1:54 with Combs Hanover second and Magical Muscle Man third.
ANGEL NATION REPLAY
It was the first win in five starts this year for Angel Nation. The six-year-old gelding is trained by Michael Hitchcock for William Hartt and paid $3.80 to win.
