DOVER, Del. —- After a one-day postponement due to extreme weather conditions, Dover Downs returns with its Monday, Feb. 16 harness racing card.
Velocity Sonja, a winner of three straight and five of her last six starts, leads one of two $14,000 4&5-Year-Old Mares feature paces on a distaff dominated Monday program. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
Allan Davis has been in the bike for all five Velocity Sonja victories for owner Megan Deering. Her only non-win came with a close-up second. Megan Rogers Racing's Odds On Alpha is also on a hot winning tear. Vic Kirby has driven the five-year-old to three consecutive triumphs. Seawind Ginger, leaving from the rail with Jonathan Roberts reining for Brit Evens and Foulk Stables, also was a wire-to-wire winner last week.
Legacy Racing's Hit By Lightning with Corey Callahan, Rusty's Winning, owned by Bobby Myers and Carter Racing, piloted by Eddie Davis Jr., Jeff Clark's Annabeth, handled by George Dennis, and Tim Mumford's Romanascape and Jim Morand complete the line-up.
In the other $14,000 sections, Jenny Bier's Skinnydip Hanover (Daryl Bier), Rachelle's Beat (Callahan), racing for Fred Hertrich and Bob Tribbett, and Happy Feet Too (Roger Plante), owned by Bill Sartin and Kevin Donahue, are the official program picks.
The rest of the field includes Mason Shaw's LaFiesta (Tony Morgan) from the rail and Ben Stafford's Quotable Quotes (Ben Stafford Jr.) from the outside post 8. Jason Skinner's Delcie Hanover (Allan Davis), Get Real Rusty (Eddie Davis Jr.) owned by Bobby Myers and Carter Racing, and Jeannette Gaunt's Gossip (Vic Kirby) are the other starters.
Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Each week, there is no racing on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m.
