Imprincessgemma A led a longshot trifecta of Down Under harness racing imports as she captured the $40,000 Yonkers Raceway Fillies and Mares Preferred at 58-1 in career-best time on Thursday.
The daughter of Village Jolt streaked away from post eight for reinsman Jordan Stratton but was forced to take the three-hole as she went wide into the first turn. She held position as leader Warrawee Ubeaut (George Brennan) laid down :26.3 and :54.2 opening splits and rolled out of third as the field of eight began its final backstretch trip.
Imprincessgemma A gained gradually into a 1:21.3 three-quarters and left behind the flat leader as they swung into the lane. Four horses vied for second behind her, but Imprincessgemma A was clear, and she crossed the finish line in 1:51.1 ahead by a length and three quarters.
Dbldelitebrigade N (Jim Marohn Jr.) reached up for second over Jive Dancing A (Daniel Dube), who finished third in a photo. The winner paid $119, and the all-Down Under-bred trifecta returned $3,081.50.
