Aussie import scores third straight open win

Working out perfect outside cover with harness racing driver Jason Bartlett in the sulky, Australian import Rocknroll Runa A (Rock N Roll Heaven) posted his third straight score in the $36,000 Open Handicap Pace at Yonkers Raceway Monday (Aug. 14) evening.

The 8^th race feature started off with Moonshine Kisses (Brent Holland) leaving from post eight and taking the lead away from Idealsomemagic A (George Brennan) by the first quarter in :26.2.

No one made a move as the field raced single file to the half mile marker in :55.2 and then action began to heat up as Backstreet Shadow (Matt Kakaley) came first-over in the backstretch followed second-up by the race favorite Rocknroll Runa A. They raced to the three-quarters in 1:23.

By the top of the stretch, Backstreet Shadow had collared Moonshine Kisses and took the lead away from him but then could not hold off Rocknroll Runa A with Bartlett as they crossed the wire to win by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:50.4. Backstreet Shadow was second with Groove Joe (Jordan Stratton) finishing third.

ROCKNROLL RUNA A REPLAY

It was the seventh win on the year for Rocknroll Runa A, who is trained and owned by Larry Stalbaum of Metamoras, PA and paid $6.70 to win.
