Aussie import wins again in F&M Open

Harness racing mare Elektra A (Four Starzzz Shark), who arrived in the USA from Australia just a couple of month ago, captured her second $22,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Saturday (Sept. 16).

The 5^th race feature saw race favorite Kobe’s Gigi (Michael Oosting) go right to the early lead from post seven with Elektra A and driver Kyle Wilfong grabbing the two-hole seat to the opening quarter mile in :26.4.

With no one challenging, Kobe’s Gigi went by the half mile in :55.2 and the three-quarters in 1:23.3.

Then in the stretch drive it was Wilfong getting Elektra A into gear, gaining ground with every stride and passing by Kobe’s Gigi at the wire by a half a length in 1:50.3. Skyway Brittney (Trace Tetrick) was third.

ELEKTRA A REPLAY

Trained by Jeff Cullipher, who co-owns the six-year-old mare with Pollack Racing, LLC, it was Elektra A’s second win in four starts in the USA. She paid $8.40 to win.
