Monticello, NY— The 4-5 favorite Backstreet Player (Cantab Hall, Michael Merton) won the $6,500 Open harness racing trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 25).
Bully Boy (Jim Taggart Jr) took the early lead out of the gate. Backstreet Player followed in second and Magnificentchapter (Brandon Parker) was racing in third as they passed the quarter mile in :29.4 and half mile in :59.2.
Bully Boy had a length advantage over Backstreet Player as they passed the three-quarter mile in 1:28.2. Cinnamon Stick (Gregory Merton) stole third.
At the top of the stretch, Bully Boy and Backstreet Player battled for first, with Cinnamon Stick not far behind.
Backstreet Player crossed the wire first in 1:57.4, two and one quarter lengths in front of Cinnamon Stick. Bully Boy came in third.

Backstreet Player is a 4-year-old gelding owned by David Hamm and trained by Nicholas Devita. He paid $3.80 to win.
