YONKERS, N.Y.— Bruce Baker took the lead with his charge Allindotime (Andover Hall) and came to the finish line just in time to hold a narrow harness racing victory in the $12,100 North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday night (Oct. 24).
Leaving from post 4, Baker swooped forward with Allindotime and hugged the cones while 2-1 favorite Buzz (driven by Andrew Adamczyk) barreled to the fore from post 8.
Buzz bobbled stride and briefly galloped into the backstretch, forcing Raceace (Alan Schwartz) three wide and leaving Allindotime snug on the lead to a :28.1 first quarter. Allindotime strolled while alone on the helm, clocking a :58.2 half and 1:28.3 three-quarters with Raceace retaining interest from the pocket and Buzz attempting a first-over push from third.
Buzz flattened spinning for home but Raceace laid threatening aim on Allindotime, inching nearer to the leader as the line loomed. Allindotime fended off Raceace to the beam by just a head in a 2:00 mile with Buzz settling for third and Grafenberg (Joe Faraldo) rallying by horses for fourth.
Bill MacKenzie trains Allindotime, a 9-year-old gelding, for owner Alma Iafelice. He paid $10.80 to win.
