Bangor, Maine … Due to heat indexes forecasted to reach, if not exceed 107 degrees on Wednesday (June 29), Bangor Raceway has made the decision to cancel the Wednesday harness racing card.
āOur utmost responsibility is to ensure the safety of the horses, horsemen and women, patrons, and our employeesā said Live Racing Manager, Michael Hopkins, āWe had hoped to be able to race the card at 11:00 am in an attempt to beat the heat but as forecasts predicted a more intense heatwave, the only prudent action was to cancel.ā
The Maine Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association are currently in discussion to determine when and where Wednesdayās scheduled Maine Sire Stakes races will be conducted. An announcement will be made soon.
