After missing the last month of racing due to throat surgery, Beach Glass (Somebeachsomewhere) made a triumphant return to harness racing, winning his $35,000 elimination division for The Progress Pace at Bally’s Dover Downs Thursday, November 17.

The first four official finishers from each of the two elimination divisions return next Wednesday, November 23, for the $250,000 Progress Pace Final for three-year-old colts.

Beach Glass, winner of the Meadowlands Pace and the Cane Pace earlier this season, started from post five in the 8th race for driver Yannick Gingras.

They took command of the race from Captain Cowboy (Tim Tetrick) by the opening quarter mile in :26.2, then held the field at bay to the half mile in :55.1 and the three-quarters in 1:22.2.

As they started down the stretch, Captain Cowboy made a break and went inside the pylons as Beach Glass was an easy winner by two and one-half lengths in 1:50. Forever Boy (Dexter Dunn) came on for second with I Did It Myway (Andy McCarthy) was third. Captain Cowboy was able to regroup and finished fourth, making it to the final.

BEACH GLASS REPLAY

It was the fourth win in his last five starts and eighth win in twelve starts this year for Beach Glass, who is trained by Brent MacGrath for the Schooner II Stable of Truro, Nova Scotia. He paid $3.20 to win.

In the 12th race second elimination division it was all 1/5 race favorite Pebble Beach (Downbytheseaside) and driver Todd McCarthy. Birthday (David Miller) was first on the lead with Pebble Beach second to the opening quarter mile in :26.3.

McCarthy then sent Pebble Beach right to the front and he led to the half mile in :55. Then in the backstretch, Mad Max Hanover (Tim Tetrick) came charging first-over and was in second as they past the three-quarters in 1:22.1.

But Pebble Beach was too much the strong horse, pulling away in the stretch to win by three lengths in 1:49.3. Mad Max Hanover was second with Birthday third and Energetic Hanover (Dexter Dunn) fourth to make it to the final.

PEBBLE BEACH REPLAY

It was the fifth straight win for Pebble Beach and his tenth victory of the year for trainer Noel Daley. He is owned by the Patricia Stable, Joe Sbrocco & Country Club Acres, Inc. and LAExpressFoderaDeoVolente. Pebble Beach has yet to finish off the board this year with his 10 wins, 6 seconds and one third place finish in 17 starts. He paid $2.60 to win.

The $250,000 final, slated as race 12 on Wednesday (Nov. 23). The post draw was done Thursday and is as follows:

1. Fourever Boy (Sweet Lou)
2. Mad Max Hanover (Always B Miki)
3. Pebble Beach (Downbytheseaside)
4. Captain Cowboy (Captaintreacherous)
5. I Did It Myway (Captaintreacherous)
6. Energetic Hanover (Captaintreacherous)
