Longshot players were celebrating after the harness racing horses crossed the finish of MGM Northfield Park’s ninth race on Wednesday (July 7) when #8 Beachin won at odds of nearly 105-1.
Charles Mooney of Avon Lake, Ohio owns the three year-old pacer. Jayne Weller trains Beachin and Ryan Stahl aboard for the winning drive. Wednesday’s triumph was a maiden breaking score in Beachin’s 19th lifetime start.
Beachin was followed across the wire by #4 Walk This Way (3-1), #5 Bittrsweetsymphony (56-1) and #9 Art Kisser (32-1).
BEACHIN REPLAY
Beachin returned $211.40 to win; the 8-4 Exacta paid $1,181.20; the 8-4-ALL Trifecta returned $938.20; and the 8-4-5-ALL 20¢ Superfecta paid $1,107.26.
Although Beachin’s score sparked massive returns, it is not even close to being the highest win payoff in Northfield Park’s history. That record remains with Jet’s Appearance and driver Sheri Hersman. They paid $579 to win on August 22, 1988.
