Northfield, Ohio– Amateur harness racing driver Vernon Beachy moved Alan first-up at the half and when they trotted by the third stanza Alan cleared to the lead and then went on to 3-1/2-length triumph over Fulton’s Fury in the $9200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association trot tonight at Northfield Park.

When the starter turned the field loose Bill Rhoades hustled Impressive Chief to the lead from the four-hole and they were strong on the front-end when they passed the first stanza in :28.2. They were still comfortable on the lead when they passed the half in :58.2.
But as the field neared the halfway point Beachy angled Alan off the pylons and they began moving up. At the three-quarters in 1:27.4 Alan had a comfortable three-length lead over Fulton’s Fury (Darrell Rideout) who was traveling along the pylons in second position.
The lead was then opened to four lengths as Alan led his competition to the top of the lane. And when he headed for paydirt it was catch me if you can and no one could as Beachy and Alan cruised home a 3-1/2 length winner over Fulton’s Fury. Yankees Image garnered the show dough for Marion Chupp.
