DOVER, Del.— After four straight starts in the photo but not a winner, harness racing driver Eddie Davis Jr. got his picture taken with Bettor And Bold after a 1:54.1 victory in the $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap, Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Dover Downs.
In what's become a photo finish special, Bettor And Bold finally made the winner's circle this year nipping his frequent rival Just Bettor (Vic Kirby) at the finish line with UF Dragons Cruiser (Allan Davis) third. A Bettor's Delight – Impertinent four-year-old gelding, Better And Bold made good use of starting from post 1 en route to equaling his career fastest victory for trainer Jim King and owners Tim Tetrick and CC Racing. Again this time, Just Bettor was a nose back finishing second
Eddie Davis Jr. and Corey Callahan scored three winners, while Vic Kirby, Montrell Teague, Ross Wolfenden and trainers Jim King and Dylan Davis had two wins each.
TIRADE HANOVER, TOUGH MAC VIE IN $18,000 OPEN TROT WEDNESDAY
Tirade Hanover ended the four-race win streak of Tough Mac in last week's $18,000 Open/Handicap trot, and the pair square off in this week's top trot on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.
Vic Kirby returns in the bike for trainer Leigh Raymer who co-owns Tirade Hanover with Steve Ross and the Solomons .Mike Casalino's Tough Mac and Corey Callahan raced on the outside for most of the mile and finished only a neck short of victory last time. . I'm So Striking closed between horses for Eddie Dennis for third money racing for Lois and Earl Walters and E&K Stable.
This week, Callam Racing's Spunky Jack and Roger Plante drew post 1.Ron Pierce leaves from alongside with Deadliest Catch, an impressive winner of his previous two starts. Steady contender Baximum, owned by Tina Clark and Joe Clark, is driven by Allan Davis. Bob Shahan and Don Marine's Six Gun Hall, and Mystical Dew, owned by trainer-driver Donald Dancer and Niel Gargiulo makes his first local appearance.
A strong supporting card is featured on the program.
Monday through Thursday racing starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday are "dark" days. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m.
