Bolt Of Luck vindicated his many backers in the Monticello Raceway feature harness racing pace on Thursday as the 1/9 favourite held on by a head to take the contest.
Cory Stratton urged the stallion to the lead from the rail and rationed his speed to a :29 first quarter mile and a :59 half. Bolt Of Luck easily outlasted first-over attacker Ideal Magic (Bruce Aldrich Jr.), who faded after drawing level with the leader at three-quarters in 1:28.1.
With Ideal Magic defeated, Bolt of Luck needed only to worry about pocket-sitter Tinos Pulse (Jim Devaux). Tinos Pulse slid off the pylons as the first of six turned for home and charged, but Bolt Of Luck produced enough late pace to secure the victory in 1:57.
Tinos Pulse was second. Instructor (Kyle DiBenedetto) finished third after a ground-saving trip.
