MONTICELLO, N.Y.— Andrew Adamczyk nabbed victories in the pair of $7,500 harness racing divisions of the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (July 3).
In the first division, Adamczyk popped off a pocket ride to a 1:59.4 victory with Explosive Ridge (Explosive Matter). Adamczyk secured the pocket spot out of post 5 to a :29.4 first quarter carved by Raceace (driven by Alan Schwartz) and stayed steady in the trail through a 1:00.2 half.
Explosive Ridge emerged with a challenge moving to three-quarters in 1:30 and dug into Raceace all through the final turn. Raceace folded in the stretch drive, leaving Explosive Ridge to edge away to a 1-3/4-length win with Just A Passenger (Marianna Monaco) third another four lengths behind and Cellular (Scott Keppler) fourth.
Andrew Adamczyk owns and trains Explosive Ridge, a 10-year-old gelding, who went off as the second choice, paying $5.00 to win.
