Breeders Crown winner My Girl Ej (Sweet Lou) returned to the harness racing wars Saturday (Nov. 18) at The Meadowlands with a very impressive victory in the Three Diamonds elimination race for two-year-old pacing fillies.
The first eight official finishers from the race will return next Saturday, Nov. 25 for the $376,000 Three Diamonds Final. Also, in the final will be both Caviart Belle and Peace Talks, who each received a bye into the final.
The $20,000 7th race Three Diamonds elim saw 25-1 longshot Miraculous Deo (Todd McCarthy) leave strongest of all from post ten and take the lead away from Blue Pacific (David Miller) by the first quarter in :27.3. Miraculous Deo then led the field to the half mile in :56.1 before driver Dexter Dunn started up first-over with the overwhelming 1/9 race favorite, My Girl Ej.
My Girl Ej was able to clear to the lead before the three-quarters in 1:25 and then she kicked in a :26.4 last quarter mile down the stretch to win with ease by two lengths in 1:51.4. Miraculous Deo was second with Miki In Luv (Daniel Dube) third. Also, making it to the final were Blue Pacific (4th), Foxy Hill (5th), Sarasota Hanover (6th), Camerican (7th) and Fresh Mist (8th).
MY GIRL EJ REPLAY
In her last start back on Oct. 23, My Girl Ej won the $700,000 Breeders Crown. It was her second straight win Saturday and fifth win of the season. She is trained by Ron Burke and is a homebred, owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Elizabeth Novak and Howard Taylor. She paid just $2.20 to win.
