FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — Following his 1:53.1 first-round harness racing victory last week, Lucky Lilly Belle Stable’s Brooksforreal (Rusty’s For Real) extended his win streak to 11 with a 1:54.2 score in his $10,000 second-round Maryland Sire Stakes preliminary division on Wednesday (May 7) at Rosecroft Raceway.

Jared Moyer rated fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:26.2 with the 3-year-old Rusty’s For Real-Brooks Range gelding before using a :28 sprint home to keep pocket rival Hungry Cougar (driven by Jonathan Roberts) at bay by a measured length. MJ Copperfield (Russell Foster) finished third.

Brooksforreal, whom Stacey McLenaghan trains, has won 11 of 15 races in his career and banked $180,502.

Bryan Truitt’s Don’t Say Maybe took top speed honors among 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings with a 1:54 win in the other division. In line to Frank Milby, the Rusty’s For Real-Sarcastic Bluechip gelding stalked splits of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:25 before emerging from third off the home turn and sweeping to the fore in the final yards to edge pocket rival Rusty’s Lancelot (Eric Davis) and 3-2 pacesetter Classic Cougar (William Carter) by a widening length.

Bryan Truitt Jr. trains Don’t Say Maybe, who returned $5.80 to win.

Owner-trainer-breeder Richard Hans and driver Johnathan Ahle partnered to sweep both sophomore trotting divisions, winning the colt and gelding division with Yall Keep Dreaming (Yall Beneath Me), who defeated Roan Ridge by 16-1/4 lengths in a lifetime best 1:55.2, and the filly division with Yall Just Love Me ($5.40), who circled cover to edge stablemate Y’all Know Me (Foster) by a half length in 2:00.

Moyer scored his second winning Maryland Sire Stakes drive in the second 3-year-old filly pacing section, teaming his own trainee Pawny ($46.00) to a 22-1 upset over Post Jolene (Roberts) and tiring 1-9 pacesetter Toys Little Tinker (Carter) in 1:55.4. Woody’s Girl ($2.40) won the other split, powering to a 3-1/4-length win over Lu’s Darling and Pams For Real in 1:56 while in line to Tim Deaton for trainer Kasey Bendix.

The spring Maryland Sire Stakes series will culminate with a quartet of $95,000 finals next Wednesday (May 14).

Live racing returns to Rosecroft on Sunday (May 11) with a pair of carryovers: $447.22 in the Pick-5 (races 3-7) and $5,925.36 in the Jackpot Hi-5 (race 10). First post for the 13-race program is 12 noon.
