Grove City, OH – Freshman colt harness racing pacers will kick off the first leg in the Buckeye Stallion Series for two-year-olds Wednesday night (July 5) at MGM Northfield Park. A total of $100,000 will be on the line as each of the five divisions will carry a purse of $20,000.
The 38 two-year-olds represent 15 stallions. Eight sons of Fear The Dragon will race, with Lather Up represented by four offspring.
Trainers Robert Brooks, Steve Carter, and Betty Clegg will each send four freshmen colt pacers to the gate. A total of 29 trainers has horses entered.
In the first division, Seeuatthesmoke will try for his third win in as many starts. Michael Lee trains the son of Racing Hill who is the 7-5 favorite.
Brooks’ trainee, Perfect Paradise is the favorite in the second division. The Racing Hill gelding was a winner at the Ottawa County Fair on June 21.
In the third division, Heerz Popeye, also trained by Brooks, has hit the board in his two starts winning one. The son of Bit Of A Legend N is the third choice on the morning line. First time starter, Legendary Noble (Bit Of A Legend N) is the 5-2 favorite. Legendary Noble is trained by Christi Noble.
Splash Dragon will try to remain perfect in the fourth division. The son of Fear The Dragon has two wins in two starts this year for Jeff Nisonger.
Ryan Miller will send Stonebridge Drago to the gate as the 5-2 favorite in the fifth division. The Fear The Dragon colt was a winner in his only start this year.
First race post time at MGM Northfield Park is 6:00 PM.
Buckeye Stallion Series action will continue Friday July 7 at Eldorado Scioto Downs when the two-year-old filly pacers take the track.
