After more than a year in processing, the New Jersey Racing Commission (NJRC) has cracked down on caretaker Brett Ecker with a $2,500 fine and a one-year suspension.
On a routine inspection, the NJRC found Ecker working as a caretaker at Legend Farm. Ecker was not licensed by the NJRC while working with Standardbred racehorses and did provide false and misleading information to members of the NJRC investigative Staff.
In a recent farm inspection by the NJRC, trainer Brandon Mongiello at Crystal Brook Training Center was found in possession of hypodermic needles and syringes, as well as other instruments used for injection, in his stabling area along with possession of injectable substances and prescription legend drugs in his stabling area. He has been fined $3,000 and suspended for six months.
