Fast last quarter gets Chief Mate to winner’s circle

WASHINGTON, PA, May 18, 2024 — Chief Mate (Captaintreacherous-Heaven Forbid) blistered the last quarter uncovered in 26.4, a decisive brush that carried him to harness racing victory in Saturday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,500 Conditioned Pace.

Chief Mate was third when Mike Wilder sent him after the leader, Sandbetweenmytoes. The 7-year-old gelding gobbled up Sandbetweenmytoes in mid-stretch and held off the late charge of Gung Ho, downing him by x in 1:51.2. Sandbetweenmytoes saved show.
