Monticello, NY— Chip Chip Conway (Conway Hall, Jim Taggart Jr) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 13).
Itsoneofthose (Alan Schwartz) took the early lead, followed by Patrick Hanover (Michael Merton) in second. From the outside, Chip Chip Conway rushed to steal the lead before they reached the first quarter mile in :28.3.
At the half mile in :58.4, Chip Chip Conway led the way, with Itsoneofthose in second and Patrick Hanover racing in third. As they came to the three-quarter mile in 1:28.1, Patrick Hanover moved to challenge Itsoneofthose for second from the outside.
As they turned for home, Chip Chip Conway was holding on to the lead, in between Itsoneofthose and Patrick Hanover. Chip Chip Conway crossed the wire first in 1:57.3. Patrick Hanover came in second and Itsoneofthose finished in third.

Chip Chip Conway is an 8-year-old gelding trained by Gary Messenger and owned and bred by Gary Messenger and Kenneth Weckstein. He paid $6.40 to win.
Kyle Dibenedetto and Jim Taggart Jr had driving doubles. Gary Messenger had a training double.
