CHESTER, PA – Harness racing drivers Marcus Miller and Corey Callahan each notched their third victory of the afternoon in guiding the winners of the $15,300 trotting features at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Thursday.

The faster of the two winners was Baldaquin, an Explosive Matter gelding who exploded out of the three-hole at the three-quarters, got the lead, then held onto a length margin over heavy favorite Ghostintheshell S, who had sluggish cover and still came her last half in :55.2 to be close.

Baldaquin may not race often – this was only the 23rd start in the five-year-old’s career – but this was his tenth victory and boosted his lifetime earnings to $102,893 for Miller, trainer Louise Pepin, co-owner with Steven Bryden.

BALDAQUIN REPLAY

The Trixton mare Caviart Emma had some good fortune, getting to the pocket and then seeing the two favorites break, but she and Callahan made the most of her fortuitous situation with a 1¼ length victory over Boom Boom Bay in 1:56.3.

Joseph Poliseno conditions the winner for owner Mary Ellen Sarama. After the victory, Callahan was last seen running to his vehicle to make the twilight action at Dover Downs.

CAVIART EMMA REPLAY

Austin Brubacker drove Gold Star Yoder ($9.40) to an off-the-pace victory in the final race for his first career sulky success. Earlier, he had trained the victorious Storm Bringer – who also paid $9.40 to win!

The top purse event, a $14,400 pace, on the Friday card at Philly is the very first race of the day, where Mad Man Hill and Almanac seem likely to be vying for the favorite’s role. Program pages for Friday’s card are available by clicking here.
