France Trotting USA has announced that Cuatro De Julio 2,1:51.3; 3,1:51 ($879,061), has been retired to stud duty.
He will stand at Abby Stables in OhioĀ for a fee of $5,000, with his bookings handled by France Trotting USA.
Cuatro De JulioĀ was bred by the famed French horseman Jean Pierre Dubois under the banner of his Dream With Me Stable. Cuatro De Julio ā which means fourth of July in French ā is by Trixton and out of Clarabelle, a daughter of two-time Prix dāAmerique champion Ready Cash, who is now a leading sire in France.
Cuatro De Julio became known for his speed as a youngster and was developed by Marie Ortolan Bar. The colt won five races at the Red Mile as a two-year-old, including a division of the International Stallion Stakes, when he trotted to his freshman speed record of 1:51.3. As a three-year-old, Cuatro De Julio returned to Lexington and lowered his lifetime record to 1:51. At the Meadowlands, he won an elimination for the Breeders Crown and finished second in an elimination for the Hambletonian.
By standing at stud in Ohio, Cuatro De Julioās offspring will be eligible to the rich Ohio racing program, with Sires Stakes and state-restricted race purses totaling $18.6 million in 2022.
