Plainville, MA—After competing successfully at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs last week, Cypress Point shipped up to Plainridge Park and continued his winning ways by taking the $12,000 conditioned trotting feature at The Ridge on Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 1).
Cypress Point (Greg Merton) went right for the lead and opened up a two-length advantage when he got there. Without opposition, Merton then guided the 5-year-old trotter to the quarter in :27.4, the half in :57.4 and the three-quarters in 1:27 before Shorething Fashion (Mike Eaton) pulled alongside to offer a challenge. Those two proceeded to go stride for stride to the top of the lane before Cypress Point changed gears and trotted away to a three-length win in 1:55.2, just a tick off the lifetime he set last week.
It was the third win of the year for Cypress Point ($3.20) and his owner Adam Friedland. The gelded son of Yankee Glide is trained by Dan Gill.
In the co-featured $10,000 conditioned trot, Queen Adjala (Chris Long) took full advantage of an early position battle between Annie OK (Michael Stevenson), Dewey's Breeze (Ivan Davies) and L Dee's Yoyo Ma (Steve Nason) to go three-wide at the three-quarters and eventually win by two lengths in 1:56.2, blowing up the tote board at 20-1.
Owned by the ADV Racing Stable LLC, Queen Adjala ($40.20) scored her third victory of the year for trainer Rob Harmon.
Driver Chris Long had the natural hat trick in races eight, nine and ten while Jim Hardy scored a double for the day.
Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Aug. 3) with post time at 4 p.m.
