Monticello, NY— Daamericansky (American Ideal) and harness racing driver Justin Huckabone maintained their early lead for the entire mile in capturing the $7,200 Open pace at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 12).
Out of the gate, Trevor’s Ace (Fern Paquet Jr) took the lead from the middle of the track but didn’t keep it for long. Daamericansky stole the lead with Special Graduate (Adam Moeykens) following in second as they passed the first quarter in :27.0.
As they came by the stands the first time, Daamericansky had the lead by three lengths over Special Graduate. Trevor’s Ace followed in third and Beebeetee (Brandon Parker) was on the inside in fourth as they passed the half mile mark in :55.3.
Trevor’s Ace came up to challenge Special Graduate as the two closed in on the leader Daamericansky as they passed the three-quarter mile in 1:25.
Midway around the final turn, Trevor’s Ace moved up to battle Daamericansky for the lead, but Justin Huckabone and Daamericansky crossed the wire first in 1:54.2. Trevor`s Ace came in second and Air Guitar (Gregory Merton) finished third.

Daamericansky is an 8-year-old gelding owned by Melvin Fink and trained by Andrew Adamczyk. He paid $6.40 to win.
