HARRINGTON, DE – James Craparotta and Pat Berry Racing’s Daburg (Anders Bluestone, $2.10, Berry) was the fastest of 5 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) 2-year-old trotting stakes winners Wednesday (Sept. 27) at Harrington Raceway with a 2:02.1 triumph.
The first of two $20,000 DSBF legs were contested with the top eight-point earners returning to compete in the $110,000 Final on October 11. Daburg assumed command near the opening quarter mile and stayed there comfortably save for a game late challenge by Going Platinum, who was second. DE Platinum was third. Daburg improved to 2-for-2 lifetime for trainer Traci Berry.
DABURG REPLAY
Jane Dunavant’s Glide Along (Glidemaster, $15, Cody Polseno) sprung an upset in the first filly division with a 2:02.3 win over favorite Marino’s Prize and Wolfpack Wilma. The filly made her first career start a winning one for trainer Carlo Poliseno.
Andrew Glassmeyer’s Lovie’s Place (E L Platinum, $9.60, Montrell Teague) won the final filly division in 2:04.3 over Platinum Proposal and Rip Away despite an early miscue. It was her first career start for her owner/trainer.
Pam Wagner’s Ronnie Ridge (El Platinum, $3.40, Victor Kirby) won the first colt and gelding division in 2:04. The gelding led all the way for trainer/driver Kirby in achieving his first career win. Lg’s Jaxon was second with Bonnies Blue Rock third.
The final DSBF division on the card went to Deborah Warnick’s Royal Beep Beep (Yankee Royalty, $12, Allan Davis) in 2:04.2. The gelding was a front end winner for trainer Jason Skinner over Its Oliver Now and Pulsator.
In the overnight feature, the $20,000 Open Trot, Nick Callahan, Yorwollahan Racing and Greg Godbout’s Star Razor (Dejarmbro, $9.40, Corey Callahan) won his 3rd straight race in 1:57.1 over Fifty Ways and Not For Moni. The 5-year-old gelding seized control early from post 8 and appeared to be tiring in deep stretch but held off all comers in a blanket finish for his 4th win of the season.
