Daley’s Joxter battles to Vernon victory

Joxter (Chapter Seven) grabbed the $7,700 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (June 4).

Credit List (Justin Huckabone) led to the first quarter in :28.4.  Joxter ($5.30) and driver Dan Daley went first-over from fourth as they reached the backstretch.

Credit List had a slight lead to the half in :59.1.  The two of them battled all the way to the final turn.  Joxter cleared to the front and led to three-quarters in 1:26.3.

Joxter went wide off the turn as they reached the stretch.  Credit List was back in the race along the pylons.  Joxter was not to be denied and held on to win in 1:54.4.  Credit List had to settle for second.  Only Passing Thru (Frank Affrunti) finished third.

JOXTER REPLAY

Joxter is a 4-year-old gelding.  He is owned by Ann-Mari Daley and trained by Dan Daley.  It was his second win in 2022.

Daley had a trainer-driver double as he also won with Grey Cloud ($3.90).  Justin Huckabone and Barton Dalious had driving doubles.  Misty Carey and Joe Sansone had training doubles.

Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Friday (June 10) as the miracle mile welcomes the New York Sire Stakes for 3-year-old trotting colts & geldings.  A special 12:15 p.m. start.
