Dayton, OH – The 2023 harness racing season at Dayton Raceway, is quickly approaching with the first card of racing going underway on Tuesday, September 26 with first race post time at 4:00 pm.
127 horses will compete over the course of 14 races. Highlighting the opening card is the $13,000 NW 4 trotting event where morning line 2-1 favorite leaving from Post 4, Simply Hill (What The Hill) will seek her fourth win of the year after a runner-up finish in the Ohio Sire Stakes Consolation for Three-Year-Old Trotting Fillies. The filly is owned by JP Racing LLC for trainer Anette Lorentzon and driver Tony Hall.
The Tuesday opening card will also feature a $13,000 NW 4 for Filly and Mare Pacers. Hoofprintinthesand (Downbytheseaside) is the early 3-1 morning line favorite, who leaves from Post 5 for trainer Jessica McCown and driver Cameron McCown. The three-year-old filly will look to score her seventh win of the season after a successful tour of the Ohio Fair Circuit for owner Shawn Harville.
2022 Leading Trainer Jason Brewer will look to start his 2023 season on the right foot with four horses entered on the Tuesday opening card: Aquatica (Race 2), Obiwon Kobi (Race 3), Zavian (Race 8) and Chikaboo (Race 13).
Dayton Raceway’s 2023 racing season will feature 12% takeout rates for its elusive Pick 5 wager and 15% takeout on its Pick 3 and 4. The Super, High 5 and Pick 3,4,5 will also feature a 100% carryover net pool into the next card of racing.
Saturday, September 30, will feature Dayton Raceway’s premiere night as the track will host four Dayton Derby races for both male and female Trotters and Pacers. Each Dayton Derby event will compete for a purse of $250,000. Dayton Derby night will also feature Buckeye Stallion Series Finals with each division contesting for $75,000.
Racing will contest five days a week at Dayton Raceway from September 26 through till December 30 with Post Time at 4:00 p.m. Trackside seating is available to fans and patrons for an up close and interactive view.
