Desperate Man (Shadow Play, Brent Holland) won the $32,000 harness racing Open pace at Yonkers Raceway on Monday evening (Dec. 11).
Desperate Man took the early lead, followed by Covered Bridge (Jordan Stratton) and Jahan Hanover (Jason Bartlett). Covered Bridge stole the lead as they approached the first quarter mile in :27.3.
Covered Bridge had the lead by a length and a half over Desperate Man as they reached the half mile in :56.3. Jahan Hanover followed in third.
Heading toward the three-quarter mile in 1:24.2, Desperate Man challenged Covered Bridge for the lead. Peace Out Posse (Joe Bongiorno), who was second-over, battled Jahan Hanover for third.
As they turned for home, Desperate Man put his head in front and stole the lead to cross the wire first in 1:51.3. Covered Bridge finished in second and Jahan Hanover came in third.

Desperate Man is a 5-year-old gelding owned by Kathy Cecchin and trained by Travis Alexander. He paid $3.50 to win.
