Columbus, OH – Harness racing driver Dexter Dunn made a stop at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Saturday (Aug. 10) and won seven of 14 races including the $25,000 Open Pace with Chase H Hanover in 1:50.
Dunn got Chase H Hanover the pocket trip behind stablemate Carbine (Kayne Kauffman). Carbine set fractions of :27, :55.1 and 1:23.1, while the compact field of five bunched up as Santana Hanover (Tim Deaton) came first up. Chase H Hanover came up the passing lane to win by half a length over Carbine; Santana Hanover was third.
Chase H Hanover is trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr. for Odds On Racing and Carl Howard. The 6-year-old gelded son of Captaintreacherous now has five wins in 14 seasonal starts and $1,012,676 in lifetime earnings.
Dunn dropped by the South Columbus oval on his way from The Meadows, where he raced on Friday (Aug. 10) , to The Red Mile for drives on Sunday (Aug. 11) and Monday (Aug. 12). He had 14 drives on the Saturday Scioto card with seven wins.
Racing continues at Scioto on Tuesday (Aug.13). Racing highlights for next week include the 3rd leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 2-year-old colt trotters on Thursday (Aug. 15), the Ohio Sires Stakes for 2-year-old filly pacers on Friday (Aug. 16). On Saturday (Aug. 17), the featured races will be the $100,000 #SendItIn Invitational Pace for older horses, the $100,000 Cleopatra Invitational for aged mare pacers and the re-scheduled Ohio Sires Stakes for 2-year-old filly trotters.
The 90-day 2024 Eldorado Scioto Downs race meet runs through Saturday, Sept. 14. Races are held Tuesday-Saturday with a first post of 5:45 p.m. each day, except for Friday, Sept. 13, which will have a 6:15 p.m. post to help accommodate horsemen attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale.
