Discus Hanover and Pirate Hanover victorious.

Discus Hanover (Credit Winner) (Ron Harp) and Pirate Hanover (Captaintreacherous) (Aaron Byron) take the harness racing co-features at Vernon Downs on Saturday (October 19).

Discus Hanover ($8.50) cruises to easy win in $8,500 Open Trot.

Discus Hanover led to the quarter in :26.4.  He used a :29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.2.  He remained in control getting to three-quarters first in 1:25.4.

Second place finisher Sevenshotsobourbon (Tom Merton) came all out after the lead but Discus Hanover was too strong and won in 1:55.1.  Stonebridge Bomber (Aaron Byron) finished third.

Discus Hanover is a 7-year-old gelding by Credit Winner.  He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst.  It was his eighth win this season and his 49th career victory.

Pirate Hanover ($4.30) captures the featured $8,500 Open Pace.

Primo Uomo (Leon Bailey) led to the quarter in:25.4.  He slowed things down with a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.1.  Warrawee Unique (Chuck Connor Jr.) came first-up to challenge for the lead going around the final turn.  Primo Uomo held a short lead to three-quarters in 1:23.1.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Primo Uomo shook loose but Pirate Hanover came flying down the stretch to win easily in 1:51.2.  Syracuse Express (Adam Capizzano) was third.

PIRATE HANOVER REPLAY

Pirate Hanover is a 6-year-old horse by Captaintreacherous.  He is owned and trained by Byron.  It was his ninth win this season and his 18th career victory.

Leon Bailey had a driving grand slam.  He got his wins with Imgoingtojackson, War Of Will, Twin B Kingston, and Sunni Red.

Racine Bell retires.

The millionaire 7-year-old mare by So Surreal called it quits after an amazing career.  Racine Bell is trained by David Dewhurst for owners Chris and Dale Lawton.  She had 42 career victories and accumulated over $1,260,000 in her career.  She recorded a lifetime best time of 1:47.2 at the Meadowlands in 2022.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (October 25) starting at 3:05 p.m.  Vernon Downs post time will be 3:05 p.m. the rest of the 2024 season.
