Discus Hanover and harness racing driver Leon Bailey captures the $8,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (October 23).
Match My Miracle (Brett Crawford) took the early lead but Discus Hanover ($7.10) would take over just before hitting the first quarter in :26.3.Ā Ā He would use a :29.4 second quarter to get to the half first in :56.2.Ā Ā Spoiler Alert (Truman Gale) was the first to make a move and the two trotters were side by side going around the final turn.Ā Ā Discus Hanover was first to three-quarters in 1:25.0.
As they made the turn for home Discus Hanover broke free and won easily in 1:54.2.Ā Ā Double Dealing (Frank Affrunti) came charging late to finish second.Ā Ā Hot Foot Hannah (Claude Huckabone III) was third best.
Discus Hanover is a 4-year-old gelding by Credit Winner.Ā Ā He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst.Ā Ā It was his 10thĀ win of the season.Ā Ā He now has 26 career victories.
