Discus Hanover flies to Vernon victory

Discus Hanover (Credit Winner, Ron Harp) charged late to capture the $8,500 featured harness racing Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (September 27).

Zapaca (Steeven Genois) was first to the quarter in :26.3.  He used a :29.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.4.  Zapaca was still in control and led to three-quarters in 1:25.1.

As they reached the stretch third place finisher Valottalove (John MacDonald) popped the pocket and went all out after the leader.  Discus Hanover ($6.60) made his move three-wide.  He drifted very wide but still got by second place finisher Zapaca to win in 1:55.0.

Discus Hanover is a 7-year-old gelding.  He is owned by Phillip Hale and trained David Dewhurst.  It was his sixth win this season and his 47th career victory.

Claude Huckabone III had a driving double and a training double.  Dustin Miller had a training double.
