Last week fines and suspensions reported to the United States Trotting Association featured a rarely seen fine and suspension for giving someone else their commission license to get access to a race paddock. And the fine and suspension was not a slap on the wrist.
Trainer Salvatore Sciarrino at Harrah’s Philadelphia gave his commission license to an unlicensed individual, possibly unlicensable, on August 6, 2023, so that person could get access to the race paddock.
Sciarrino has been fined $2,500 and received a 90-day suspension. It was not known as of press time if an appeal has been filed.
Also fined substationably at Harrah’s Philadelphia was trainer Luis Pena as he had two horses come up positive multiple times for Aminocaproic Acid. His total fines amount to $2,500.
The case involving trainer Shea Lare and a positive test for Oxmorphone after appealing and appearing before the judges at Dover Downs has been finalized, and Lare has been fined $5,000 and received a full 180-day suspension.
