MONTICELLO, N.Y.— Alan Schwartz vaulted off cover with even-money chalk Doo Wop Kid (Wishing Stone) to notch a 1:59.3 victory in the lone $7,500 dash of the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Nov. 12).

Leaving from post 4, Schwartz settled Doo Wop Kid towards the middle of the pack while 10-1 shot Woodside Genius (driven by Bob Krivelin) pushed for the lead into a :29.1 first quarter. Woodside Genius cleared pylon-starter Star Hairdresser (Andrew Adamczyk) and steadied the tempo to a :59.3 half, at which point Schwartz angled outside with Doo Wop Kid and caught cover from The Last Chapter (Joe Lee).

The Last Chapter progressed up the rim to press Woodside Genius to three-quarters in 1:29.3 while Doo Wop Kid readied a three-wide charge for the final turn.

Doo Wop Kid never relented in his wide pursuit and surged forward in the lane to grab the win by three-quarter lengths over The Last Chapter in second. Fanatic (McKenzie Sowers) closed from last for third, another three lengths behind, and Star Hairdresser tired to fourth.

DOO WOP KID REPLAY

Alan Schwartz owns and trains Doo Wop Kid, a 6-year-old gelding by Wishing Stone. He paid $4.02 to win.

The NAADA Fall Trotting Series will go to final next Thursday (Nov. 20) at Yonkers Raceway with a $20,000 purse. A $7,500 consolation is scheduled for Wednesday (Nov. 19) at Monticello. First-race post time at Yonkers is 6:45 p.m. (EST) and 12:10 p.m. (EST) at Monticello.
